If you are already in the community or just want to submit your species already, you're in the right place. Read on for more information on creating your first submission to join Sagan 4 .
There are multiple Sagan 4 projects to choose from, with their own separate ecosystems and, in some cases, slightly different rules. You will need to decide which one you are making a species for before you can begin.
Every species needs an ancestor, so you will want to find existing, non-extinct species that you might be interested in making a descendant off of. Once you have selected a project, you should browse its wiki to find species that might interest you, or join the community and ask for suggestions if you wish. Some pages will show random species to choose from!
Sagan 4 is a very large project so it may seem a little bit intimidating at first, but hopefully the community and the wiki's navigation features can aid you in finding somewhere to begin.
In accordance with the submission rules for the project you have chosen, draw a picture of your species and write a description. This should include some basic information, such as how the species has changed from its ancestor, how it lives, and what it eats. If this is your first species, we suggest keeping it conservative (eg. only small changes) until you've learned the ropes, but you're free to be creative within the confines of what can be explained.
Sagan 4 strives for accessibility. It's okay if your art isn't great or if there's a few grammar mistakes, as long as we can tell what it is and understand the meaning of the text. The community can also help you with both of these--just ask!
Submissions take place on the forum. Find the submission forum for your chosen project, register if you haven't already, and post a reply to the thread to join Sagan 4 linked at the top to submit your species. We look forward to your submissions!
